Quality Control began in 2016 as the culmination of a series of fortunate events.

Our creative studio was the brainchild of entrepreneur and social media marketer extraordinaire, Shana Dandeniya. Shana was the Co-Founder of Cafe Kumbuk, one of Colombo’s pioneering establishments to promote natural, locally grown produce and sustainable lifestyle choices. Her education in Creative Advertising at the University of the Arts in London and excursions across Europe helped shape the eclectic identity of the Café.

Café Kumbuk became a roaring success story that made its way into the pages of eminent international publications in the likes of Vogue Paris, Monocle Magazine, World’s 50 Best Asia, and NPR. In the course of this extraordinary adventure from childhood dream – to dream come true, there was one unyielding constant.

 

Quality

This quality was a combination of three seemingly simple things – a quality product, quality branding, and quality communications. Café Kumbuk’s triumphs led to more brands, businesses, and entrepreneurs who sought to understand Shana’s brand-building mantra and collaborate with her to create new prospects for their brands. It was at this juncture that Quality Control sprung to life.

Today, we provide holistic creative solutions to one and all. Our philosophy is driven by a purpose of building mindful and meaningful brands. Whether it is a fledgling startup or a distinguished conglomerate, our boutique marketing services provide clients with detail-driven solutions to stamp their presence in the digital domain. Our core team of seven (aka the QC Funky Funks) and our extensive network of creative professionals and influencers help create refreshing new possibilities for every brand we work with.

Quality Control’s team is the backbone of our agency. It’s what allows us to provide unparalleled services, and maintain a level of excellence that sets us apart. Our team is responsible for making sure that the content created by Quality Control is up to par and free from any mistakes. We follow a set of guidelines which are followed by our entire team in order to create high-quality content which appeals to their clients. We focus on a work culture based on the principles we follow, breaking the norms of digital agencies by prioritizing our team’s experience which ultimately benefits our clients the most.

Allison De Silva

Allison De Silva

Head of Operations

Meet Allison De Silva, she is the Head of Operations at Quality Control. Allison has always been a hard worker, starting soon after completing school at the age of 17. She previously worked in the corporate sector for 4 years before joining Quality Control full time. During her time working in the corporate sector, Allison was exposed to different areas of work such as event planning/management, working as a PA and also in a call center as a customer service representative - all before realizing that her true passion was in Social Media Management and Marketing.

Allison has a natural knack for copywriting, a keen interest in graphic design and creative ideas that have helped to grow the brands she has worked with through Quality Control over the past three years.

When asked why she works for Quality Control she mentioned that this is a job that continues to open avenues for her to grow her skills - especially communication and client servicing, especially as she considers herself a bit of an introvert. In doing so, she has been able to sharpen her PR skills, creative thinking and has built her confidence ten fold. Social Media Marketing is a field Allison adores working in and sees herself pursuing for many more years to come.

When she's not on QC duty you’ll find her singing at Church, cooking or mapping out her next road trip!

Founder

Meet Shana, Born in Aussie, brought up in the UK and now residing in Sri Lanka she stands at the intersection of many cultures and tries to reflect this through the work she does.

After completing an undergraduate degree in Creative Advertising at London College of Communication, Shana moved back to Sri Lanka to pursue her dream of opening a cafe/coffee shop. Cafe Kumbuk has now been seven years in operation and is undoubtedly one of the most popular spots to eat in Colombo. Recently it was also recognized by the 'World's 50 Best' awarding body as one of three restaurants in Sri Lanka to contribute to its community socially and environmentally.

As well as the day to day running of Cafe Kumbuk, Shana also founded Quality Control which offers social media solutions, coaching and consultation services brands both big and small.

Shana enjoys teaching and recently completed a stint working as an Assisting Tutor on the Graphic Design undergraduate course at AOD Sri Lanka.

Sandali Rupasinghe

Community Manager

Sandali Rupasinghe, our lovely community manager who lives in Kandy, Sri Lanka. Sandali is a third year undergraduate at the University of Colombo, Faculty of Arts specialising in the subject of Demography.

Sandali has been working as our Community Manager at Quality Control since January, 2022. Her task is to build community within our team, motivating our project managers and graphic designers, whilst also reaching out to current and new clients to make sure they're getting exactly what they want out of their partnership with Quality Control.

Sandali also volunteers at HypeSL and Youth Advocacy Network Sri Lanka and she spends all her free time growing her own small business - 'Scrunch Up' where she sells Scrunchies and T-shirts.

Between 9am-5pm on weekdays you have our undivided attention. Around this we will do our best to respond in a timely manner and communicate as clearly as possible to ensure client satisfaction.

Our team is constantly researching new ideas, tools, and methods to elevate your social media presence and get the most out of the platforms we work with. We aim to provide unique solutions to each one of our clients – the ‘one size fits all’ approach has no place here.

Result Oriented

Our analytical report is a great way to see how things are going on a monthly basis but beyond that we are always ready to sit down face to face and discuss how things are going. We prefer to focus on solutions not problems.

Education

We are forever learning and that means listening to our clients and peers, offering advice but also accepting it when it comes our way too. A big focus of QC is on educating others about social media too.
